It’s that time of the year again. The time that people wish for peace, justice, freedom and prosperity for all. In December there’s always a strong demand for these qualities, but always very poor supply. That has everything to do with the saying, that if you want to change the world, you need to start with yourself.

I was born in the 60′s and have been wondering about changing myself ever since. Apart from a few men (it are always men) with dubious authority or reputation, nobody seemed to know what needed to be changed. So I guess, in the end, there wasn’t going on much changing at all.

A little while ago I finally figured out that this whole ‘first change yourself’ thing is a con, a low and dirty trick to prevent the world from changing. At least I think it’s quite a bit of an insult, to imply that there’s something wrong with me that needs to be changed or there won’t be any world peace or prosperity.

The truth is: we already are good people. If we ever have done something bad to this world, it’s not because we’re bad people, but because we weren’t ourselves at that moment. That’s why from now on I stop trying to change myself and instead try to:

Be True to myself

Look After myself

Be Good to myself.

In order to make this world a better place, we simply need to be ourselves in the most honest and sincere way possible. We’ll be much happier and satisfied. And if we’re happy and satisfied, we become much friendlier and if we become friendlier, we also become more considered and sharing. And when we start sharing it will not be because we want to change the world, but because it will make us feel even better.

It basically comes down to this: what the world needs now is not us trying to change ourselves, but us taking better care of ourselves. That’s all the world ever needed and all it ever needs.
